Even, bright skin tone with a healthy glow after the Galvanic Glow series at Lumina Skin Sanctuary in Fort Myers, FL

Fading Sun Damage & Dark Spots: Inside the Galvanic Glow Series

If you live in Southwest Florida, sun exposure is relentless — and it shows up as sunspots, blotchy patches and an overall unevenness that foundation can only hide for so long. Our Sun-Damage Eraser & Galvanic Glow Series is built specifically for that concern, combining professional brightening actives with a technology that helps them actually reach where pigment lives.

What happens during the treatment

  • Analysis — we map your pigment and tone under magnification and the Wood’s lamp.
  • Cleanse & exfoliate — surface buildup is cleared so actives can penetrate.
  • Ozone steam — warms and preps the skin.
  • Galvanic iontophoresis — a gentle current drives brightening, water-soluble actives deeper than they would travel on their own.
  • Mask & SPF — we finish by soothing and protecting — sun protection is non-negotiable for pigment.

The technology — and the history behind it

Iontophoresis: moving ingredients with an electrical charge

Galvanic current has been used in skincare since the early twentieth century, but the specific principle behind our brightening work — iontophoresis — was pioneered by the French physiologist Stéphane Leduc around 1900. Leduc demonstrated that a mild galvanic current could carry charged molecules across the skin barrier, effectively using electricity to deliver an ingredient rather than relying on it to soak in. In a modern brightening facial, that means the vitamin-C-style and other water-soluble actives we use are actively pushed toward the deeper layers where uneven pigment forms — making each session work harder than a topical alone ever could.

What you’ll see after your treatment

After a single session skin looks brighter and more even, with a healthy glow. Pigment correction, though, is a gradual process — dark spots fade in layers, not overnight. Across a series you’ll typically see spots soften, tone even out, and that dull, “sun-tired” look lift.

Best results come with a routine. Pigment responds to consistency, not one-off treatments — this is why we offer it as a series. Sessions are typically spaced a few weeks apart at first, then moved to maintenance every 4–6 weeks. Daily SPF at home is what protects and preserves the results between visits.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions will I need to fade dark spots?

Pigment fades gradually, so a series gives the best results. Your esthetician will suggest a realistic number based on your skin during your consultation.

Does galvanic iontophoresis hurt?

No. Most people feel only a mild tingling or a slight metallic taste — it’s comfortable and relaxing.

Will my results last?

They last best with daily SPF and maintenance visits. Without sun protection, new pigment can form — Florida sun is persistent.

Who should avoid galvanic current?

Let us know if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or metal implants, or have epilepsy, and we’ll tailor a safe alternative.

How often should I come in for maintenance?

Every 4–6 weeks once your initial series is complete.
